It was great to see so many of you turn out for our meeting on Monday, April 30th. Here is the information I covered with you, along with our master calendar (UPDATED 4-22-12) for the upcoming months. Please read over all the information carefully.

As I mentioned at the meeting, we currently have 33 athletes going up to UMD football camp on June 18th-20th. We are planning to run a JV and Varsity team up there and would like to take 45 players. If you have not signed up and would like to, the camp brochure is available for download. Please register online or speak to me by the end of the week so I can confirm a bus. Again, this is a great opportunity for any of our players entering grades 9-12.

Second, I would like to recognize those players that have made the 80% dedication level in the weight room this winter. These players either had weight training class or worked out at least 80% of the time in after school workouts. You can see these athletes in the next picture.

As we head in to spring, we have many players competing in a spring sport which is great! For those players that chose not to compete in a sport, we want to see you in the weight room after school. Coach E has been working hard with the athletes in there and has a workout plan for you to follow. Remember to sign in each day on the football sign-in sheet. We would like to see more players make it to the 80% dedication level that we need to achieve in order to be successful.

The team has decided they want to attend the UMD camp again this summer. We will be attending the first session which is June 18-20. I have included the link below and have attached the camp brochure. We are going to open registration first to the current Juniors and Sophomores. They will have the opportunity to register until April 3rd. At that time, we will open registration to our current freshman that want to attend. The UMD staff would like all players to register online if possible. I know some of our players bagged groceries at Cub back in November and earned $55 towards their camp fee of $175. Those players need to turn in their registration to me along with a check for $120. I will send all those in together. We plan to get a bus to bring us to and from Duluth again this year. A fee of $30 will be collected on the day of the trip. We will take up to 45 players this summer to the camp. Our summer strength and conditioning sessions are set and open for registration through Community Education. Our session will take place from 9:15-10:45am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. You can register at www.cecool.com

Finally, we have a football player/parent meeting scheduled for Monday April 30th in the Park cafeteria, at 7pm. This meeting is to discuss our summer workouts, our calendar, booster club information, and answer any questions you may have about the upcoming season. 9th and 10th grade players/parents will also have time during the evening to meet separately with their coaching staffs.

Starting Sunday night February 12, we will have skill sessions for quarterbacks and receivers. This will last from 7:00pm until about 8:15pm. Please enter in the back doors of the Activities Center. This is open to QB’s and WR’s in the high school and middle school grade levels,

Happy 2012! It has been great to see many of our football players competing in winter sports. Good luck as your seasons wind down and we get ready for spring. I wanted to give you an update about what has been going on so far this off-season.

Players had individual meetings with me over the past two months as we discussed their season and did some goal-setting for academic progress, off-season training, and next football season’s goals. Unfortunately only 47 players completed their meeting with me out of about 110 players.

We have decided to begin 7 on 7 in the morning starting in February. All players in all grades are welcome. More information will be coming soon on this. We also plan to do some training sessions with quarterbacks and receivers starting in February.

No decision has been made at this time regarding a summer team camp. I will let you know when it is decided what we plan to do.

If your son has not finished their community service hours, please have them stop and see me in room 219. We have sent out announcements about opportunities for volunteer hours over the past couple weeks.

As I mentioned at the banquet, we are looking for a strong commitment this off-season in other sports or in the weight room. Our expectation is for players to be in another sport, or be in the weight room at least 80% of the time. If your son is on this list, you should be very proud of their efforts. If your son is not in a sport or on this list, please encourage them to increase their efforts to become better football players and better athletes. Coach E is in the weight room each day making these kids better athletes. I hope to see more of our players taking advantage of this.

There are many Park teams having success this winter in their sports. It has been great seeing so many football players at these events cheering on their classmates. Love to see the school spirit. The Girl’s Basketball team is even singing the school song after their wins. Awesome!!!

Finally, we are starting up a Leadership group for athletes this month. Many of your sons and daughters will be asked to take part. I am hopeful this is a step in the right direction in changing the culture at Park High.

Jolie Boich – 2nd grade teacher here at Hillside and parent to a Park High School student had a great idea to help show our support to all the students at Park High School this week in honor of Homecoming.

All the students and staff in our school were invited to wear Wolfpack gear or school colors (green, black and white) to school today. Many, many students and staff members took part.

We took 3 pictures to share with you: staff members, students from grades PreK-2 and students from grades 3-5.

We wanted to send these to you and let you know that we wish you well and we are cheering for the Park Wolfpack.

Our Community Service-A-Thon is going very well. Varsity and 10th grade players will be going to Feed My Starving Children in Eagan this Saturday night from 7 to 9pm. We will leave the back parking lot at Park at 6:15pm. Players that have their license are being encouraged to drive and help transport younger teammates.

We will begin using a laundry service this week for game jerseys. Pants- we are trying to figure out how to make this work.

I know there have been plenty of highs and lows already this season. Please remember to keep positive as we work towards building our program. Negativity will never help. This reminder is being shared with all involved in the program as we have all been guilty, including me.
