Strength

  1. Philosophy of Park Football
Our philosophy can be simply stated “To be the best that we are capable of being”. In order to realize this there are a number of criteria, which must be met:

    1. In order to be really good at something, you must really want to be good. It only happens when there is a strong desire for it to happen.
    2. Make a conscious commitment to do the things necessary to be successful. Vince Lombardi has been quoted as saying that “winning is not everything – but making the effort to win is.”
    3. Belief in ourselves as individuals, our coaches, our style of play and our total program
    4. TEAM and family approach. Players must be willing to live beyond themselves and play for the good of the team.
    5. Who’s responsible for your greatness? Our ability to win starts with your attitude. Your choices determine what happens. Winning is an attitude. It is trying to win on every play – Do your best every play, every day.
  2. Bigger, Faster, Stronger Program
The foundation of our program is the BFS total program. It’s all about developing functional strength that will transfer to the sports we play, allowing us to run faster, jump higher, be more explosive and prevent injury.

    1. We expect the athlete to train on a consistant basis, year round and to follow the five power axioms for success. During the school year, you can train by taking the weight classes or in the after-school program. If you are out for another sport, you will train with your team. If your team does not train in-season and you cannot take the class during the day, see Coach Ekmark.
    2. You are expected to participate in the WOLFPACK Power Meet, which is held annually the first week in April.
    3. During the season coaches will monitor the lifting card. We expect you to make progress in-season. The program’s goal is to break eight (8) or more records each week.
    4. Players that train will play. Players that do not, will not! Coach Ekmark takes attendance.
    5. Athletes that average at least two weight workouts a week for the year and participate in the WOLFPACK Power Meet are eligible to wear teh Ironman lifting patch on their letterman jackets.
  3. There are many important reasons for training consistently. In this day and age, you can’t compete if you don’t. The most important, however, was found in a survey done nationally to determine what it takes to have a successful high school programm. The overwhelming, number one factor was a good year-round strength and conditioning program.

  4. Discipline
We have never seen an individual, organization or football team succeed without discipline. Discipline will win the close games for us. What is discipline? It is cooperation with teammates and coaches. It is the acceptance and willingness to work hard and follow the leadership of your coaches. It is self-control and self-responsibility. It is doing what you are supposed to do, when you are supposed to do it and doing it that way everytime! IT IS ATTITUDE! We will abide by training rules set by the Minnesota State High School League. We have one overriding rule and that is: “Do what is right and not what is wrong.”
